Why built-in

Rooms aren’t standard sizes. Bunk beds are.

A sloped ceiling, a short wall or a room that has to sleep eight rarely works with something off a shelf. Building it in changes four things.

Sized to the room

Measured to your wall, ceiling height and window line, so the beds fit the space instead of the space working around the beds.

Sleeps more people

Four or six beds in a footprint a pair of standard bunks would fill, with room left to walk through.

Storage comes with it

Drawers under the bottom bunk, cubbies inside the stair, shelves in the headboard — space that would otherwise be lost.

Built to be climbed on

Framed and fixed to the structure, with guardrails and a ladder or stair that takes daily use from kids and guests.

Built-in bunk beds mid-build, with shiplap walls, wood guardrails and ladders before paint

Custom bunk beds

A built-in bunk is framing, not furniture

It goes in on site: squared to the wall, anchored to the structure, then finished so it reads as part of the room rather than something moved into it. What that includes is up to the room and to you.

  • Two, four or six beds in a single build
  • A ladder, or a full stair with treads
  • Drawers, cubbies and under-bed storage
  • Guardrails on every upper bunk
  • Reading lights and outlets at each bed
  • Shiplap, panelling or paint to match the room
  • Curtains or panels for privacy
  • A slide, where the ceiling height allows it

Custom projects

If it can be built, describe it

Most of these projects start as a rough idea and a difficult room. A long wall doing nothing. A ceiling too low for a standard bunk. A bedroom that has to sleep eight over the holidays. A garage that should be a game room.

Tell us what the room has to do. Josh will walk the space and tell you honestly what can be built in it — and what can’t.

One contractor for the whole job

Built by the owner, not handed off

Josh Logan has spent more than 22 years building and remodeling across the Phoenix area. Logan Construction completes 50+ projects a year, from kitchens and primary baths to built-in bunk rooms, garage conversions and commercial spaces.

A built-in bunk touches framing, finish carpentry, paint and usually electrical. Instead of lining up a carpenter, an electrician and a painter yourself, you deal with one licensed contractor who is on the job and answers the phone.

How it works

Five steps, start to finish

  1. 01

    Free consultation and site visit

Josh measures the room and listens to what it has to do — how many it sleeps, who uses it, what it has to store. No cost, no obligation, and you’re talking to the contractor who would run the job.

  2. 02

    Detailed written estimate

An itemised written estimate covering scope, materials and labour. Josh talks you through the line items before you commit to anything.

  3. 03

    Design and material selection

Layout, bed count, storage, finishes and hardware get settled. Where the work needs city permits or HOA approval, we handle those applications and build the schedule around real lead times.

  4. 04

    Construction and quality control

One licensed crew builds it on site, with Josh overseeing the trades. Weekly updates keep you informed — which matters when you manage the property from elsewhere.

  5. 05

    Final walkthrough and handover

We go through the finished build together and work the punch list. It isn’t finished until you’re satisfied with it, and costs are tracked through to that walkthrough.

Common questions

Questions we get asked

Can you build bunk beds to fit an unusual room?

Usually, yes. A built-in bunk is designed around the room you already have, including its measurements, ceiling height, windows and doors. Josh checks the space on the walkthrough and tells you what will fit before anything is built.

How many people can a built-in bunk sleep?

It depends on the room. Past builds have run from a pair of bunks in a kids’ room to six beds built into one wall. Ceiling height, floor area and how people get in and out set the limit.

Can the bunks include storage?

They can. Past builds have included drawers under the bottom bunk, cubbies built into a stair, open shelving and built-in headboards. What makes sense depends on the room and how it will be used.

Can you build bunk beds for an Airbnb or vacation rental?

Yes. A lot of the bunk work Logan Construction does is for short-term rental properties across the Phoenix area, alongside game rooms, garage conversions and full rental remodels.

Can you build something other than bunk beds?

Yes. Logan Construction also builds built-in storage and closets, media walls and lounges, game rooms, guest rooms and garage conversions, as well as kitchens, bathrooms and whole-home remodels.

Can you give me a price online?

No, and any contractor who does is guessing. Price depends on the room, the number of beds, the materials, the finish and what the existing structure allows. You get a detailed written estimate after the walkthrough, before anything starts.
